Getting started

IP Finder is an Android network diagnostics app. Its home screen brings together your public IP details, a live connection-quality view, and available Wi-Fi or LAN information. Focused tools are available for DNS testing, IP lookup, and saved targets.

IP Finder is not a VPN.

It observes and tests your current connection; it does not route, encrypt, or anonymize your traffic.

02 / Public identity

Understand your public IP

Your public IPv4 or IPv6 address is the address internet services can observe when your device connects to them. It may change when you switch between Wi-Fi, mobile data, or a VPN.

What the app may show

  • Public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses available on the current connection.
  • Internet service provider and autonomous system information.
  • Approximate country, region, city, time zone, and map position derived from an IP address.

IP geolocation is approximate. It can point to an ISP gateway, network hub, or nearby city and must not be treated as the precise physical location of a person or device. IP Finder does not request Android GPS location permission.

03 / Connection quality

Read the live ping card

Ping sends small network probes to a selected target and measures the responses. Tap the ping card to change the target or use related actions.

Latency
The round-trip time in milliseconds. Lower and more consistent values usually feel more responsive.
Jitter
How much latency varies between probes. Large swings can affect calls, games, and live media.
Packet loss
The share of probes that receive no response. Loss may indicate congestion, filtering, or instability.

A target may block or deprioritize ping traffic even while other internet services work. A failed ping alone does not prove that a website or network is offline.

04 / DNS routing

Run a DNS leak test

  1. Open the DNS tool and start a test.
  2. Keep IP Finder open while the test domains are resolved.
  3. Review the resolver IPs, providers, and countries observed during the session.

If you use a VPN or custom DNS service, compare the result with the provider you expect. An unfamiliar result can indicate that DNS requests are taking a different route, but it is not by itself proof of malicious activity. Private relays, enterprise networks, and ISP infrastructure can all affect the result.

What the test does not guarantee

A DNS test is one diagnostic snapshot. It does not certify anonymity, privacy, or the security of a VPN.

05 / Lookup

Look up an IP address or host

Enter an IPv4 address, IPv6 address, or supported host name to view available network ownership and approximate location information. Search terms and recent results may be stored locally on your device so you can revisit them.

Only look up targets you are authorized to investigate. Results can be outdated, incomplete, or associated with a network provider rather than an end user.

06 / Local network

Inspect Wi-Fi and LAN details

Depending on your device, Android version, and connection type, IP Finder may display:

  • Local IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, subnet, gateway, and DNS servers.
  • Wi-Fi frequency, security type, signal, and negotiated link speed.
  • Network-interface and route information exposed by Android.

Android may require local-network access for some diagnostics. IP Finder does not ask for your Wi-Fi password. Some fields are unavailable on certain Android versions or when the device manufacturer restricts access.

07 / Saved targets

Manage saved addresses

Save a frequently used IP address or host with a name so it is easier to select for future tests. Saved addresses and search history are stored in the app database on your device. You can remove individual items from the relevant list; uninstalling IP Finder removes the app's local data.

08 / Your controls

Privacy and advertising choices

  • Where advertising choices are required, open Settings → Privacy choices.
  • Pro Edition removes eligible ads while the entitlement is active for the Google Play account.
  • You control sharing or saving screenshots through Android's system share and media interfaces.

09 / Troubleshooting

Common issues

Why is IPv6 missing?

Your current mobile, Wi-Fi, VPN, or ISP route may not provide IPv6. This can be normal.

Why does the public IP differ from another app?

A VPN, proxy, private relay, DNS cache, connection change, or a difference between IPv4 and IPv6 can produce different results. Refresh after the route has settled.

Why are ping values unusually high?

Try another target and compare Wi-Fi with mobile data. Congestion, distance, VPN routing, radio signal, power saving, and target-side filtering can all affect the measurement.

Why is the DNS test empty?

Confirm that the device is online, then run a new session and keep the app open. Network-level blockers, private DNS behavior, or a temporarily unavailable test service can prevent observations.

Why is the map blank or approximate?

Map rendering needs an internet connection. The marker comes from an IP geolocation database, not GPS, so it may be far from the device's actual position.
