01 / Scope

Scope and controller

This policy applies to the IP Finder app for iPhone and iPad, including its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets (the “App”), and to the IP Finder servers the App contacts to provide its features.

Hai Tran Xuan, the developer of the App, is responsible for the processing described in this policy. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to appdavion@gmail.com.

02 / Summary

In brief

  • The App needs no account and never asks for your name, email, contacts, or GPS location.
  • The App contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not track you. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • Your IP address log, search history, DNS test history, ping targets, and settings are stored only on your device.
  • To show your public IP, look up an address, or run a DNS leak test, the App must send IP addresses to IP Finder servers. Those requests carry a random installation identifier, not your identity.
  • Location shown in the App is approximate and based on IP addresses, not on your device’s location.
  • We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.

03 / Features

Data used by each feature

FeatureWhat is sent, and to whom
Public IP (Home, widgets, background refresh) The App asks the IP Finder IP-detection servers for your public IPv4 and IPv6 address; the servers read it from the connection. The App then sends that address to the IP Finder geolocation service to show its network provider and approximate location.
IP lookup (Search) The IP address you enter is sent to the IP Finder geolocation service. The map is drawn by Apple Maps (MapKit), which receives the approximate coordinates of the result. “Open in Maps” opens Apple Maps.
DNS leak test The App starts a test session on the IP Finder DNS-test server and makes a series of DNS look-ups of test hostnames. The DNS resolvers your device uses forward them to IP Finder’s DNS servers, which record the addresses of the resolvers that asked. The App retrieves those resolver addresses and looks up their provider and approximate location.
Live ping Ping packets go directly from your device to the targets you choose; nothing is sent to IP Finder. Those targets, and the DNS service that resolves their names, can see your IP address.
Local network informationRead from iOS on your device and shown in the App. It is not sent anywhere.
Copy, Share, and Save to PhotosHappen only when you tap them, and go only where you choose.

Every request to an IP Finder server includes the installation identifier described below and an “IPFinder-iOS” user-agent string. Like any internet service, the servers also receive the IP address and time of each request.

04 / Identifier

Installation identifier

On first use, the App creates a random identifier and stores it in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is not synced to iCloud, and it may remain on the device after you delete and reinstall the App. It is not the advertising identifier (IDFA) or the identifier for vendor, and it is not linked to your Apple Account, name, or contact details.

IP Finder servers use it to protect the service from abuse and to diagnose problems. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking across apps or websites.

05 / On device

Data stored on your device

The following stays in the App’s storage on your device and is not sent to IP Finder:

  • IP address log: changes of your public IP with time, network type, provider, and approximate location. It is on by default; turn it off with “Record IP changes” in Settings and delete it with “Clear history” on the log screen.
  • Search history: up to 15 recently looked-up addresses; remove one or clear them all.
  • DNS test history: the resolver addresses found by your tests.
  • Ping targets and favorites.
  • Cached results: provider and approximate location of addresses, kept for 24 hours.
  • Settings, the number of look-ups and DNS tests used today in the free version, and whether IP Finder Pro is unlocked.

The widgets read this data through storage shared on the device between the App and its widgets. Your device backups (iCloud or computer) may include it, according to your backup settings.

06 / Purchases

IP Finder Pro purchases

IP Finder Pro is a one-time In-App Purchase handled by the App Store. Apple processes the payment. The App receives only signed purchase information from Apple to unlock Pro on your devices; it does not receive your payment details or your Apple Account. Refunds and purchase history are managed by Apple.

07 / Apple

Apple services

The App uses Apple services that process data under Apple’s Privacy Policy:

  • Apple Maps (MapKit) for the map in IP look-up results and “Open in Maps”.
  • The App Store for distribution, purchases, updates, and the system prompt to rate the App.
  • Crash and performance reports: if you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple provides the developer with crash and performance reports. The App also reads iOS diagnostic summaries (MetricKit) and keeps the latest one on your device; it does not send them anywhere.

08 / Permissions

Permissions

  • Local Network: requested only when you ping a device on your local network, such as your router.
  • Photos (add only): used only when you tap Save to store a ping result image. The App cannot read your photos.
  • Background App Refresh: lets the App check your public IP when iOS allows, to record changes in the on-device log.

You can change these in iOS Settings at any time. The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or tracking.

09 / Providers

Service providers

IP Finder servers run on hosting infrastructure, and some are delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes request data on our behalf. Read the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We do not share data from the App with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies.

11 / Retention

Retention and deletion

  • Data on your device stays until you delete it in the App or delete the App. The installation identifier in the Keychain may remain after the App is deleted; erasing the device removes it.
  • IP Finder servers keep request records only as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service, and DNS test sessions only as long as needed to return their results.
  • Apple and Cloudflare keep data according to their own policies linked above.

To request deletion of server data, email appdavion@gmail.com. Because the App has no accounts and server records are not linked to your name, we may not be able to find records that relate to you. Limited data may be kept where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the service.

12 / Control

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction or deletion of, or restriction of processing of your personal data, or object to processing. You may also complain to a data-protection authority. Send requests to appdavion@gmail.com; we may ask for limited information needed to understand and verify your request.

13 / Safeguards

International transfers and security

IP Finder servers and providers may process data outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on an adequacy decision, contractual safeguards, or another lawful mechanism. The App connects to IP Finder servers only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we use access controls, rate limits, and data minimization. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

14 / Children

Children

The App is a general network utility and is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data contrary to this policy.

15 / Contact

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the App, its servers, or the law change. The date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
